Father Fitzgerald was an inspiration. He hired me as a guidance counsellor at Regina Pacis. He was a compassionate leader and a thoughtful team builder. He did a great deal of good. I am sad to hear of his passing but grateful to have known him.

I am very sad to hear of Fr. Fitzgerald's passing. I first met him when I was a new student in September, 1963 at Neil McNeil HS. He was always full of fun and even a little mischief. He taught me Chemistry formally but many other things incidentally. He visited our home a few times to have dinner with us. My dad, a Dubliner, always had a good laugh with Fr. Fitzgerald and they shared many reminiscences. We took him trout fishing on two occasions, where, on one trip to Wilmot Creek, he acquitted himself very well catching 3 trout, all about 2-3 lbs each. Needless to say, we cooked them at my house later and enjoyed another memorable evening with him. I last saw Father Fitzgerald in 1994 at a memorial at our school for my friend, John Candy, who had died tragically young. I was able that evening to finally thank Father for teaching me and that he was an inspiration. I am happy to hear that he had a good long life and brought hope and joy to many. He will be missed but will remain a vital presence in my memory. Requiescat in pace, Father.
