Gerry was an active member of our Les Amis des Frères group and came to our Russian River retreat as often as he could. I always enjoyed his presence at the camp. He was one of my mentors that I looked up to, starting when I first met him when I was in high school.
He drove himself to camp and brought his faithful Sarge with him. Everyone loved Sarge´s presence, but Gerry had to stay at Cassini´s campgrounds next door because dogs were not allowed at camp. Sarge was the smartest dog I´ve ever met: he not only could open screen doors but he could close them too.
The last time I had the joy of spending time with Gerry at camp, his daughter Penny and grandchildren came with him so he could be there.
I will miss him.
