I´m married to Mary´s cousin Vincent and we lived in New York State for many years. Gerry was therefore our cousin. He also was a loving son who used to come up to our area from Tennessee often to visit his elderly mother, and when he did so he often stayed at our place. When our son Ethan was a bar mitzvah, Gerry had the honor of being called to read the Torah. He and Mary, as well as Ellen and her beautiful family, were all there to celebrate with us.

Gerry was a kind, loving, intelligent, humble and generous man whose presence in our lives enriched us and our children´s world more than we can say. We will miss his gentle humor and good sense, his love of family and his steady affection. The world is smaller without him. We send our love to his entire family. May Gerry´s memory be a blessing.

I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Gerry in White Plains, NY, while he was caring for his elderly mother. He was married to one of my very first babysitters, Cousin Mary Agnes (a real pistol, to say the least). I knew Gerry as a kind individual with the quiet wisdom of a shy, bright, and deeply intellectual person who, at his core, was a true comedian-always ready with a laugh and never waiting for applause. Shortly after his mother passed, while we were sitting at kiddush after shul, sharing a meal together, he taught me-through his actions-that "grief is just love with nowhere to go," and that those we lose-well, he said, they never really go far. They stay with us in the stories we share, the laughter they left behind, and the little habits we adopted from them without even realizing it. We don´t bury them; we carry them with us... his memory is a blessing to me and my family.

Gerry was my best and oldest friend. From early teenage days in the Bronx to maintaining a friendship throughout our lives Gerry will always be remembered and missed. I devotedly wish Gerry peace and love.

I am glad we got to spend time with Gerry and Mary over the years. I loved visiting them in Nashville and Asheville. They always opened up their home and their hearts to us. I especially loved hearing about Gerry's passion for music! Sending love to the whole family.
