Gerald Horton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 25 to May 28, 2022.
Gerald "Jerry" William Horton Jr. passed peacefully on May 1, 2022, at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, GA. He was born on September 29, 1942, in Kansas City, Kansas to Gerald and Elsie Horton. Jerry graduated high school in Kansas City and subsequently pursued a job at General Motors as a forklift operator. Soon after completion of trade school in computers, Jerry transitioned to working at Yellow Freight. In 1963, Jerry had the pleasure of marrying Marilyn Davis. In 1970, Jerry began working for TWA and remained there until he retired under Delta in 2004. Throughout his retirement, he gave time to the Homeowners Association. He also enjoyed helping his youngest son, Rob, with his developing business. Jerry would never shy away from a conversation. He had the distinct pleasure of always making your day when you called. He was blessed with a trait that not many people have, but one that everyone appreciates: the ability to speak with anyone. He was known by his loved ones for his jovial nature and light-heared nature. Jerry is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his sons, Christopher Horton, Jeffrey Horton (Jennifer Herron), and Robert Horton; and his grandchildren, Jake, Davis, Ava, and Mallory. Family, friends, and others who were touched by Jerry are invited to join our remembrance of him on May 29, 2022, from 11:00-3:00pm at the Knollwood Lakes Clubhouse. If you feel so inclined, in lieu of flowers, we are asking for a donation in Jerry's name at Emory Hospital.
