Gerald Huffman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 3, 2023.

Gerald "Gary" E. Huffman, 83, of Stuart, Florida, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023. He was born and raised in Marion, Indiana. After graduating in 1957 from Marion High School, he immediately enlisted in the Marines. After his time in the Marines, he came back to Marion and started working at, what was called back then, General Motors Fisher Body. He worked there for 37 years and retired in 1999. While working at Fisher Body and raising two children, he squeezed time in to attend Ball State University. He graduated in four years with a Bachelor's degree.

Gary had several passions and at the top of the list is being a die-hard Cubs fan. H was also a Bears and IU Hoosier basketball fan. However, nothing topped being a Cubs fan. He loved golfing, fishing on his pontoon boat in Florida, and being around his family, especially spoiling his grandchildren.

Gary has three children: Scott (Jean) Huffman of Stuart, FL, Lori Carter of Marion, and Angie (Cory) Cunningham of Van Buren; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia, whom he cherished dearly, and his parents, Charles Frank Huffman and Goldie Vetor.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon on Monday, May 8, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Gary's life will begin at 12:00 noon with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1000 Ruhnke St., Stuart, FL 34994.
