Gerald W. "Captain Jerry" Nave

Gerald W. "Captain Jerry" Nave, 64, died, June 6, 2011, at Martin Memorial Medical Center, Stuart. He was born in Fort Lee, Va., and lived in Port St. Lucie for 13 years, coming from Guatemala. He served in the Marine Corps in Vietnam. He owned a demolition company in Florida, a lobster business in Belize, numerous thrift stores in Guatemala and Captain Jerry's seafood in Port St. Lucie. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Shirley Nave; daughters, Voni Crumpton of Port St. Lucie and Susan Nave of Port Charlotte; foster daughter, Melissa Juan of Tampa; foster sons, Pedro Rivera of Houston and David Martinez of Hutchinson Island; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Virginia Nave; and brother, Joseph Nave Jr. Services: A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. July 24 at 719 S.E. Albatross, Port St. Lucie. His ashes will be returned to the sea during a private ceremony Nov. 26. Arrangements are by All County Funeral Home & Crematory Treasure Coast Chapel.
