Gerald Allyn 'Jerry' Tranter

1948 - 2018

Gerald Allyn "Jerry" Tranter, of River Ridge, was granted his angel wings on January 21, 2018 at the age of 69. Jerry was born in Manhattan, Kansas to Clifford and Jo Tranter on July 11, 1948. He graduated from Manhattan High School in 1966 and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State University. He served in the U.S. Navy as an Opticalman for 4 years. Following military service, Jerry had a 34-year career as a Geologist for the Department of Interior. He was a friend of Bill W. for many years. Jerry's kind, generous soul touched many people's lives. Jerry had a passion for all living things; and took into his home and loved many cats, dogs, rabbits and fish. Jerry is survived by Jolene Scofield, his sister. He will also be forever remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his sister, Jeanne Elliott, and his parents, Clifford and Jo Tranter. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service at LEITZ-EAGAN Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Metairie, Louisiana on Thursday afternoon, January 25, 2018 at 6:00 pm.
