On Monday, July 11, 2016, Geraldine "Gerry" Day, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 years.
Gerry will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughters, Sharon, Laura (Sebastian), Carolyn and Nancy; grandchildren, Ryan and Sara McGale, and partner, Sandy Fitch.
She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Dr. Richard Day and her parents, Isabella Russell McVeigh and Gerald McVeigh.
Gerry was born in Toronto and graduated in nursing at Toronto Western Hospital. Dick and Gerry were married in 1959 and spent some time in Boston and Uruguay while Dick completed his medical training then returned to Dick's home in Edmonton where he established his medical practice.
Gerry was active in all aspects of life, particularly curling, golfing and travelling; but her main activity was raising her four beautiful daughters who she loved dearly. She took great pride in the achievements of her daughters and grandchildren. During her last nine years she continued her love of travelling, visiting many parts of the world with her partner Sandy.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2016 at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street, Edmonton. Following the service there will be a Remembrance of Gerry's Life held at the Royal Mayfair Club from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
