Geraldine Peek Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 30, 2022 to Jan. 1, 2023.
SPRINGFIELD Geraldine M. "Geri" (Hughes) Peek, 76, of Springfield PA, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2022, surrounded by family. Geri was born on July 4, 1946, in Brooklyn NY to George W. and S. Frances (Sokolowski) Hughes. She grew up in Honesdale PA and Piscataway NJ, where she graduated from Piscataway HS in 1964. She entered the work force as a secretary, attended college classes, and met her soulmate, Leroy "Lee" Peek, Jr. in her early adulthood. Geri and Lee were married in February 1970, at St. John's in Dunellen NJ, after Lee's return from Vietnam (Army, 1967–1969). The couple made their home in Piscataway, then moved to Holland Township NJ, with Geri's mother soon joining them as a fixture in their home. They attended St. Edward's in Milford, where Geri served as a CCD teacher, Director of Education, and Eucharistic Minister. Returning to corporate life, Geri was an administrative assistant at the DiBianca Berkman Group and Beardsworth Consulting, and later was a documentation specialist at Medarex. After her husband's passing in 1996, Geri found solace in the Beginning Experiences (BE) bereavement group, with whom she enjoyed retreats at the Jersey Shore and mentoring others experiencing loss. Geri also cared for her mother-in-law, Esther (Anderson) Peek, until "Grandma Peek's" passing. New chapters in Geri's life included a move to Easton PA, where she was a parishioner at St. Jane Frances de Chantal, lived with her dog, Fergie, and hosted memorable gatherings with neighbors, family, and friends. In retirement, Geri moved to Springfield PA, where she attended St. Kevin's. She loved holidays, traveling, long conversations, cooking and baking, water aerobics, and being close to all three of her children. Nothing compared to her joy as "Grammy" to six loving grandchildren. Geri is survived by her brother George, sister-in-law Barbara, and brother-in-law Arthur. She was a devoted mother and mother-in-law to daughters Kristin and Erica Peek, son Timothy Peek and his wife Donna. A proud grandmother to Nino, Sabrina, Ariana, Madeleine, Timmy, and Audrey, each of whom she adored. She loved many nephews, nieces, and cousins. Geri is predeceased by her beloved husband, Lee, her parents and in-laws, sister-in-law Noreen, brother Michael, and "siostra" (sister) Patti. Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation Saturday, January 7, 2023 9:30am St. Kevin Church, 200 W Sproul Rd. Springfield, PA 19064 and to her Funeral Mass Saturday 11:00am in the Church. Int. private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Oblates of St. Francis de Sales or the San Alfonso Retreat House in Long Branch NJ. (Arr. I´m very sorry to see that Geri has passed away. I knew Esther very well and used to visit Esther often in Geri´s home. Fergie was great too!
You have my deepest condolences and will be in my prayers.
