Gerard Gaudet Obituary

Gerard R. (Jerry) Gaudet, 74, died Friday, October 26, at his home in Fearrington Village of acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sara Margaret (Maggie) Gaudet; his daughters, Christy Gaudet and Heather Ash Amara; his son-in-law, Raven Smith; his brothers, Edward (Mary) Gaudet, Richard (Chung) Gaudet, Leo (Diana) Gaudet; his sisters, Regina (Larry) Donovan, Diane (Doug) Erickson, Janine (Jim) Cotreau, and Claire (Don) MacNeil; his sisters-in-law, Clara Gaudet, Jeanne Gaudet Cardoza, Pat MacKenzie Buck; his brothers- in-law, Robert Burns, Brad Buck, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. Gaudet and Florence Melanson Gaudet; his sister, Annette Burns, and his dear brother Paul Gaudet.
Jerry was born in Lynn, MA and served in Germany during the Korean War. He and his wife, Maggie, met in California in 1965 and spent the next 23 years living in Southeast Asia and traveling the world with their two daughters. As an executive of several different international corporations Jerry inspired many as a business mentor and guide. He also supported many service projects, including working with the American Chamber of Commerce doing water projects for rural schools in Thailand. He and Maggie retired to Fearrington Village in 1997 after Jerry was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He survived the prostate cancer and went on to touch the lives of the people in his community as he joyfully worked on people's computers and served as the President of Fearrington Village Homeowners Association. He was an avid golf and tennis player and a loving husband and father.

Jerry will be inurned in the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held within the next two weeks at Fearrington Village.
The family would like to thank, UNC Hospital and Hospice.
