Gerard C. McCormick

Gerard C. "Gerry" McCormick, 59, of Honesdale, died on Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, the former Mary Ann Rickard. The couple married on Sept. 26, 1992.

Born on Oct. 6, 1954, in Carbondale, son of Susanna "Sue" Ryan McCormick of Pleasant Mount and the late J. Benedict McCormick, he was a graduate of Forest City High School, class of 1973. He later served in the Air Force during peacetime. He began working as a corrections officer at Norristown State Hospital and later at Farview State Hospital in Waymart. Gerry was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale and a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 772 in 
Norristown.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Ponderosa Hunting Club.

He is also survived by his son, Jeb McCormcik, at home; brothers, Joe McCormick, Waymart; Bobby McCormick and wife, Jane, Newfoundland; Jimmy McCormick and wife, Carrie, Stewartsville, N.J.; John McCormick, Pleasant Mount; Billy McCormick and wife, Bonnie, Waymart; and Paul McCormick, Pleasant Mount; sisters, Ann Brady and husband, Dan, Honesdale; Peggy Rogers and husband, Rob, Honesdale; Debbie Wenk and husband, Luke, Lakewood; Joan Lamanna and husband, Mike, Jacksonville, Fla.; Patricia McCormick, Honesdale; and Mary McCormick, Melbourne, Fla.; his mother-in-law, Jane Rickard, Honesdale; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Gerald Rickard.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, Honesdale. As per his request, cremation will follow.

Friends may visit Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hessling Funeral Home Inc., 428 Main St., Honesdale.
