I was truly struck by the disappearance of Prof Gerhad Giebisch. I got to know him way back in 1984 when I started attending his laboratory at Yale Medical School. I have always been impressed by his profound competence, organizational ability, gift of synthesis and his unlimited love for scientific research. A man of great humanity, profound culture and vast interests, he has always aroused great charm in me. I also had the honor of having him as my guest in Naples, where we spent unforgettable days going from scientific meetings to visits to the archaeological sites and nice evenings in the trattorias and pizzerias of real Naples. He has been a point of reference in my professional life, a man that I will certainly never forget.

I don't know the gentleman but he lived his life in the service of others through medicine. The family must be very proud of him. RIP sir.
