Germaine Viola Blouin Vecchiolla, 96, affectionately known as "Mom," "GMA," and "Gerry," of Forest Hill, Maryland, peacefully went home to Heaven on Monday, January 27, 2025, surrounded by family.

Germaine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Francine Vecchiolla and Duncan Reid of Somers, CT, and their son, Trevor Reid of Boston, MA; her son and daughter-in-law, Frank Vecchiolla Jr. and Cheryl Vecchiolla of Vernon, CT, and their children and spouses, Julie and Robert Norval of Londonderry, NH, and Kevin and Karen Komorowski of Fallston, MD; her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Vecchiolla II and Lisa Vecchiolla of Forest Hill, MD, and their children and spouses, Joshua and Nicole Vecchiolla of Kingsville, MD, Bradley Vecchiolla of Wellfleet, MA, and Janelle Vecchiolla of Bel Air, MD. Germaine also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Emma and Andrew Norval of Londonderry, NH, and Cameron and Christian Komorowski of Fallston, MD. She was predeceased by her son, Alan Vecchiolla, and her husband of 55 years, Frank Vecchiolla Sr.

Born in Bronx, New York, on October 5, 1928, Germaine was the daughter of the late Adelaide Saucier and Raymond Blouin. She had three siblings: Beatrice, Raymond, and Roger.

Following her husband's passing in 2003, at the age of 76 in 2004, Germaine embarked on a new chapter, leaving behind the quiet suburb of Ellington, CT. She joined her son Joseph and daughter-in-law Lisa and their two dogs King Theodore and Prince Yogi on a jet-setting life that took her to Baltimore, MD; the Middle East - Dubai, UAE; Greater Philadelphia; and back to her hometown of New York City before finally settling once again in Greater Baltimore.

Professionally, in addition to her work in media, finance and real estate, Germaine served as Vice President of Administration at J.V. Motor Lines. Later, she became a trusted advisor to her children and grandchildren offering guidance, support, love and encouragement throughout her lifetime.

A devout Roman Catholic, Germaine was actively involved in several parishes, including St. Joseph's, St. Luke's, and most recently, St. Ignatius. She faithfully taught Sunday School and led Den 4 of The Cub Scouts leaving a lasting impact on the communities she served.

Germaine will be remembered as a voracious reader, an avid swimmer, a traveler, a superb hostess, a kind and forgiving soul, generous with her time, and an imparter of wisdom, laughter and experience to her children, grandchildren and friends with unconditional love and support.

Visitation followed by a memorial church service will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 533 E. Jarrettsville Rd. Forest Hill, MD on Monday February 10, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM. On Wednesday February 12, 2025, Germaine will be returned to Connecticut to be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband Frank and son Alan at the mausoleum at Mt. St. Benedicts Catholic Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT at 1:00 PM. All are welcome.

Remember Mrs. Vecchiolla from long ago when they lived in Ellington. She was amazing, beautiful, smart, kind, the epitome of being classy. What a great example of strength and courage to embark on a new life chapter in retirement to explore the world. An honor to know her.
