Gerry Mason Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 9, 2025.
Gerry Paul Mason, age 57, of St. Augustine Beach, FL, and formerly of New Hope and Perkasie, PA, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025. He was surrounded by family and close friends as he bravely succumbed to a long-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Sellersville, PA, Gerry was the son of Faye Ellen (Meas) Badman and the late Peter Tyre Mason. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, the late Richard R. Badman. A 1985 graduate of Pennridge High School in Perkasie, PA, Gerry pursued his passion for music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.

Gerry built a vibrant career in the food and beverage industry. Most recently, he served as General Manager at Vino Volo in Jacksonville International Airport for nearly a decade, where he oversaw a major renovation and assisted with the opening of their Orlando location. Before moving to Florida in 2015, Gerry worked at Vino Volo in Newark, NJ; Dish Catering in Frenchtown, NJ; and several iconic establishments in New Hope, including the Cartwheel, The Raven, and John & Peter's.

A man of many talents and passions, Gerry loved music, technical production, and live performance. He honed his skills early on at the Pennridge High School Media Center/PCV, marching band, and choir and progressed to various theater productions. He also loved movies, cartoons, Tastykakes, and Lithium on SiriusXM. He was deeply involved in the New Hope community for many years. He worked as an emcee and performer (as Vera Charles) in drag shows, served on the board of New Hope Celebrates, and volunteered for many pride events. An avid chef and skilled sommelier, Gerry delighted in cooking for loved ones and sharing his culinary expertise with recipe and menu development. Most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family and would always lend a hand to anyone who needed his help or guidance.

Gerry is survived by his mother Faye Badman of Perkasie, PA; three brothers: Tim Mason (Caroline) of St. Augustine Beach, FL; Ethan Badman (Lonna Murphy) of Verona, NJ; and Derik Badman (Lianne Hartman) of Ambler, PA; as well as three nieces and nephews: Brynna Mason, Zachary Mason, and Dermot Badman.

There will be no formal services. A celebration of life will be planned with friends and family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network).org/" rel="sponsored">https://PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network).org/) or New Hope Celebrates (https://www.newhopecelebrates.com/).

You will be missed Gerry. I have fond memories of you, me and my mom doing inventory and working the holidays at Radio Shack. On the football field too.
Being part of the Pennridge High School Band was best fun. Sharing the same birth date was always and will still be a special day. Find mom in heaven, she always loved you like a son.
