Gertrude Eberle Bothner

DENNIS — Gertrude passed away at home on Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Lloyd Bothner. She leaves two daughters, Gretchen Bothner Maddox of Worcester and Jennifer Bothner Perry of Dennis. She also leaves a grandson Adam Maddox of Worcester, two granddaughters Kristen Murphy of Worcester and Angel Kist of Maine. She was the grandmother of the late Amanda Bothner Snaras of Worcester. She also leaves 4 great-grandchildren.

She loved people and was always laughing that wonderful laugh. She loved to dance, travel the world and volunteered at the VNA thrift shop.

Mrs. Bothner was born in Brojtzingen, Germany, and came to the US when she was 5. She lived in Rhode Island until she was married and then moved to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., in 1952 where her husband and she adopted two daughters in 1961. She was a stay-at-home mom for the rest of her years. She and her family moved to Westboro in 1968 and then she and her husband retired to Cape Cod in 1982.

Mrs. Bothner graduated from Nelson W. Aldrich High School, in Rhode Island, and then worked as a Corporate Secretary until moving to Poughkeepsie.

Memorial Services will be held in the spring. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Cape Cod or to Elder Services, Rte. 134, South Dennis, MA 02660 or to the charity of one's choice.
