Gertrude Franklin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 24, 2014.
Franklin, Gertrude TrudyGertrude "Trudy" Franklin passed away peacefully at home on June 22nd at the age of 92. She is survived by her daughter, Lori Schroeder and granddaughter, Katie Schroeder, both of Windermere and sister, Anne Fetzner of Toms River, New Jersey; plus many nieces and nephews from New Jersey, Kentucky and California. Trudy was born in Linkenheim, Germany on December 20, 1921. She moved to Secaucus, New Jersey when she was 7 years old. Trudy was the first person to graduate college in her family (Upsala College) and was proud to serve in the Navy during World War II. She met her husband, Ballard Franklin (who preceded her in death in 1997), overseas. They settled in Glendale, California in 1956 and moved to Orlando 20 years ago to be closer to family. Trudy was a homemaker and an amazing, loving mother. She was very active in volunteering her time in church and school functions. Trudy was blessed to have many life-long friends and a loving family and will be greatly missed. Her beloved cat, Patches, was by her side until she passed. Donations can be made to the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando (formerly known as the SPCA).A special thank you to all the wonderful ladies ("Angels") who took extraordinary care of Trudy the past 3 years, especially Josey Lynch and Gina Alexander.

Lori and Katie, Aunt Trudy was a wonderful lady, I will miss the times we had together, but remember them from time to time. She will be missed in your life, but oh the wonderful memories are always there! I still think of my mom and dad, and it seems like just a few years, but my dad has been gone for 23 yrs. now! My sympathies are with you Lori, hugs to you both!

Lori & Katie,

When my mom passed it occured to me death is little like playing peek-a-boo as a young child. When you're parent disapears behind the sofa - you think they're really and truly gone forever, but of course they aren't. We simply can't grasp how it's possible that if we can't see them, but they're still right there. - Thinking of you and 1 Corintians 13 all my love,

Lori and Katie, our hearts and prayers are with you on the loss of you Mom and Grandmother. Even if miles separate us today, our hearts are close to yours at this time. I really loved your Mom, she was very good to me if I ever needed to talk or work something through. She always made time and almost always offered a level solution that seemed just right. My Dad always said "Trudy will know what to do" when he was stuck on something, and even if they had differences (A few?), they always worked it out. She was a kind, classy, generous, and fun lady. A great cook---Rectangle Pizza, a pantry full of preserves in CA, Spetzels with Rouladen, Carmel Layer Bars anyone (plus tons of other great foods!)? You were a friend for life if you were counted as one! From my heart to yours, my deepest condolences, Love Lisa (Dave and Elizabeth too). Peace, Aunt Trudy XXOO.
