On Friday, February 5, 2022, the Sleiman family lost their hero. Worcester-Ghazi Sleiman, 76, passed away peacefully at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Yassmine Douaihy, his Sister Noel Sleiman Aswad and Nephew Ghassan Aswad and wife Rachelle of Sutton MA; His brother Frank Sleiman and wife Barbara of Kingston MA and Nephew Ali Sleiman; His Brother Talal Sleiman and wife Nahed of Mlikh Lebanon and Nephews Wissam Sleiman and Karim Sleiman and wife Victoria Guberska of Bulgaria; Nieces Lama and husband Raef Halawi; Lara and husband Ryan Lemand; and 11 great-nieces and nephews that miss him dearly. Ghazi was born in Mlikh, Lebanon, to Mohamad Naim and Zainab Sleiman. He graduated from Lebanese University in 1967 and went on to work for a private security firm as the Director of Operations. His entire career was devoted to defense work for his adopted country. Many individuals consider him a mentor. They credit him with helping them reach their goals by inspiring them to go beyond their prior accomplishments and persevere to new heights by stepping outside their comfort zones. You may not have known Ghazi, but he made your life a little better. He didn't respect dishonesty because it never took anyone to a better place, which influenced all who knew him. He was a quiet man with a sharp mind who could assess someone's worth long before they said anything. He leaves a legacy of cherished memories behind him. He will be remembered most for being a gentle, kind soul who generously gave to others and worked tirelessly. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards and was an enthusiastic Boston sports fan, particularly of the Boston Red Sox, which he enjoyed watching with his cat Maurice (picture Dr. Evil and Mr. Bigglesworth, from Austin powers, in front of a TV). He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. The funeral service will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a gift to the front-line staff at UMass Medical ICU. Ghazi's departure was made much easier for him and his family by the love, care, and attention to detail shown to him in his final days.
