Giannina Davies Obituary

Published by Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Oct. 18, 2022.
DAVIES, Giannina Silvia

Giannina Silvia Davies passed away suddenly on October 13, 2022. She was 41 years old.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at the Heritage Funeral Home at 907 Church St. Ext., Marietta on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 6:00 PM. The family will gather there with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Giannina was born on October 30, 1980 in Aruba, to Giovanni Kelly; and her late mother, Sylvia Croes. Growing up in Aruba, she spent almost all of her free time playing with neighbors and cousins and exploring the island's beautiful beaches with her older brother. She attended LaSalle College Catholic School in Aruba.

Giannina's energy, spirit, infectious laugh and wickedly funny humor touched so many lives. She loved to attend the many fairs and festivals on Marietta Square, and especially loved hiking the trails up and down Kennesaw Mountain. She demonstrated the virtues of unconditional love for her family and friends. She was an amazing mother and wife and a generous friend. Her spirit will live forever, and her memory will be cherished by all.

Giannina is survived by her husband, Fred Davies; and her cherished children, Tianna, Matthew, and Jakob. She is also survived by her father, Giovanni Kelly of Aruba; her brothers, Giovannino Kelly (Josh Sammon) of San Francisco, CA, and Giovanni Kelly II (Lydia Crawford Kelly) of Alexandria, VA. Giannina has been blessed with the love of many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and loving friends in Georgia, Aruba, and worldwide. Her burial will be held in the days ahead in Aruba with a family and island-wide celebration of her life to follow.

I had met you during our High School years and from day 1 we became very close friends. My mom used to call you the girl from Ponton. Every afternoon we used to drop you at home because you lived on our way home. We spent lots of summers at the pool at La Cabana as your father came to visit with little Bambi. We have been to lots of first times together. I still dont understand but God will give us all the strenght we need. God bless your beautiful family you left behind and may they find their comfort in Him. I love you amiga Nina

I am so grateful we had the opportunity of seeing each other again after so many years, even if it was short.
I am heartbroken as the world has lost a joyous shining star.
I love you and always will.

It had been years since I had seen you and when I heard of a friend named Gianina passing in Aruba... I prayed it was not you.....and then I saw your face on a post. My heart sank. I remember how funny our friendship started when we found out we had the same birth year and birthday. Scorpios all the way, lool!
I may have not seen you or spoken to you for ages when leaving Aruba and starting a new life in Canada after La Salle College, but your laugh, your kindness and love for dancing was hard to forget.
You kind of know the positive imprint someone leaves in you when you get to know what genuinity is.....and you Gianina are a synonym of that. I can´t imagine the void your kids and husband feel right now, but I know for a fact that without meeting them, you loved them more that anything. Until we meet, laugh and dance again my beautiful friend

My sincere condolences. I´ve known Giannina from school (Bushiri) and when living in The Netherlands. A great loving person, she always had that "Gianinna sparkle" around her! My heart aches... you left too soon.
Sending lots of strength to Fred, the children, family and friends, may all the cherishable memories bring you comfort during this difficult time.

Nina, may you rest in peace. Be the brightest Star as you can be and shine like the whole universe is yours!
