Our first time we (Karl & Millie Harbaugh) met Gil was when he came to our dairy farm in Mt Hope, Wisconsin, as a foreign exchange student in the 11th grade. We loved him from the first time we met him and enjoyed his stay at our home. It was in the winter time and he was able to enjoy the snow activities during that time. Our next contact with him was 9 years later when I answered the phone one day and a newspaper reporter told us Gil was now racing in the United States. Of course, we went to his race as we were so excited to see him again. We had followed his races and kept in contact over the years. Our sympathies go out to Angela, Anna, Luke, and his extended family. May God be with you as you go through this time of sorrow and change in your lives.

So very sad to hear of Gil´s passing. He lived a very full life in those short 56 years. He was a class individual and a champion. My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting him at TMS in 2002 and he couldn´t have been nicer and more cordial to us. Rest in peace Gil.

Our sincere condolences to the de Ferran family. Gil was an amazing driver, teammate and boss. I am so thankful to have known him and worked for him. He will be tremendously missed.
