Gilbert Franklin Asher died on Monday, June 9th, 2025 in Peabody, MA, at age 85. He was born February 16, 1940 in Chicago, IL. He went to the University of Michigan, and then the University of Chicago Law School. He was a lawyer and investor in Chicago and then Santa Fe, NM. He loved skiing, photography, traveling, sushi and ice cream (but not all at once).

Gil is survived by his children, Jamie Asher Berg (Ethan Berg), Whitney Asher (Laura Wentzel); his grandsons, Arden Berg and Josh Berg; his brother, Robert Asher (Maureen); and many more friends and relatives. He is predeceased by his father, Norman; his mother, Helen; and brother, Donald.

A memorial service will be held at Temple Emanuel in Marblehead on Friday, June 13th, 2025, at 1:00pm. Shiva will be at 20 Adams Road, Marblehead, from 2:30pm to 4:30pm. Burial will be private. A memorial service will be held at Brooksby Village later this season.

Personal letters may be mailed to Gil's family at PO Box 2, Lenox, MA 01240. Donations may be made in Gil's memory to the Peace Corps Kenya Country Fund (link below).

We thought we knew Gil from our many Temple times together, but we didn´t! Listening to HIS service, with the articulate speakers, we were filled in about his full life. How fortunate he was to be with a friend of 8 years, at the end: the best, most comforting end as we perhaps have true peace at last.

Adding pleasant memories. Going to Salem on Halloween. Gil taking pictures of kids he thought were cute, and all the people in costumes.
Going to Hall lectures , then discussing what we thought of lecture.
