To all who are writing here, I am Gil's niece, raised in Edmonton, now living Penticton, BC. I write and attempt at making films. I would like to write a book on Gil and so please, please email me with any details you may like to give for the book. By the way, didn't know growing up, but myself and my mother's side of family ended up being Metis and I'm proud to be Metis! E: [email protected]

Uncle Gil, I will cherish all of the fond memories shared with you, both as a child and an adult. May you rest in peace now, surrounded by your BM and Donny, your FM Gladys Wilson, who loved you so very much and was so proud of you, always. Your sister Patricia and brother Gerald. I am very grateful to have had you in my life. Love Kerr

I am sorry to hear of this good person's passing. I worked with Gil, and was always glad to run into him in our community. Sad news-- yet a life well-lived.

So very sorry to hear of Gil's passing. He was a wonderful man. I had the pleasure of sharing several fun and compelling conversations with him during the wee hours one summer when I was moonlighting in Edmonton's NFB offices (coordinating a film fest) and he was working on festival press for this amazing doc, *Foster Child*. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.

Knew Gil when he first started with us at ACCESS Alberta in the mid-1970s. A talented, creative, gentle soul. Rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to family and friends of Gil - i had the honour to meet and work with him years ago and have followed his exceptional career over the years. His spirit lives on in that work, and his contributions will continue to affect the lives of many. My mother, Senator Thelma J Chalifoux (Ret.) would also like to extend her deep condolences and sincere heartfelt sympathies. Gil, may your spirit soar with the Grandfathers...much love and respect,
