No wonder you I had been on my mind so much for the past year. :'( Mr. Cuevas was more than just a counselor ... he was a visionary. When he was heading the migrant camps he was not only pushing students to be better students and career-minded people ... he was putting us on paths to become better human beings. I will forever carry beautiful memories of school and camp because of this man. He retired as a counselor from Hueneme High the same year i graduated in 1995. To Ms. Angie and the children he left behind, i would like to thank you for sharing this fabulous human being with us. He din't have to do half of the thing he did... but he did out of the love he had for our future. HEY GIL ARE YOU READY? FOR WHAT? TO JIG. JIG WHAT? THE GIGALO! :) Welcome home Mr. Cuevas. Heaven rejoices at the arrival of one of their own.

Gil, you were a great inspiration to me at Hueneme High class of 82. You took me to Cal State Pepperdine for their youth leadership conference, you sponsored me with MECHA, and with my magazine. You helped me in so many ways.
So sad that we lost you but the Lord in heaven has received a great legacy. God bless your family.

This man literally saved my life. What an incredible person. I met Gil my freshman year and Hueneme High and my life was forever changed. He not only guided me in life but he followed me. He introduced me to FLA which was the greatest experience ever. While in in high school I never missed a lunch thanks to Gil. He would call me into his office every month and would give me a free lunch card for the month. He would tell me this month you are Gabriel Garcia and I would tell what if Gabriel comes looking for his card, and he would say well then Gabriel will be someone else, lol. He was truly a life saver. Always looking out for me And many others. Mr Cuevas thank you for your guidance, Because of you I am better man today. You changed my life I will forever remember you. Rest In Peace Mr Cuevas.

I served on Future Leaders' Board of Directors for several years with Gil. He was truly a leader, a mentor, a role model, a gentleman, and a true American. He helped soooo many young high school students - much of it through his own pocket. He was a selfless servant to education. I was honored to know Mr. Campos, and to call him my friend. God Bless You, Gil. We will miss you and your leadership.

Deborah & Cuevas family,
I met Mr. Cuevas as a student at Camarillo High School. He was our MECHA advisor and he encouraged me to run for Secretary in my senior class. I was never a public speaker, but I got out there and ran. He also encouraged us to give back and/or help someone in need..so I tutored a child after school. Mr. Cuevas was one of a kind and he will never be forgotten. My deepest sympathy to the family .
