Gilbert George Ostrander, 87, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024, at the Pavilion of Waukegan. Born June 5, 1937, in Waukegan, IL, to Helen and George Ostrander, Gilbert served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman in Korea, where he soon met his wife of 61 years, Mona. They were married on December 28, 1962, and established their home in Winthrop Harbor. Gilbert held a long career as a press operator for Nosco of Gurnee.

An avid classic car enthusiast, Gilbert spent countless hours restoring and maintaining his beloved collection. His dedication was evident at car shows, where he earned numerous awards and formed connections with fellow car enthusiasts.

Gilbert is survived by his wife, Mona Ostrander of Winthrop Harbor, IL; daughter, Susanne Kresen (Ken) of Marion, IA; three grandchildren, Gina McConahay (Michael) of Marion, IA, Madeline Sawertailo of Chicago, IL, and Jeremy Anthony of Zion, IL; and a great-grandson, Samuel. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Virginia Wiegold; his brother, Daryl Ostrander; and his great-granddaughters, Olive and Sophie McConahay.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at North Prairie United Methodist Church, 5000 9th St., Winthrop Harbor, IL.
