Our beloved brother, husband, father, uncle and popo, Gilbert Rojas, 64, a long time resident of Haskell, Texas, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at the Saint George Catholic Church in Haskell, Texas, with Father Alexander Amburose officiating, under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes in Haskell. Burial will follow at the O’Brien Cemetery. A rosary will be held at the funeral home, Tuesday, February 14, 304 N 2nd Street, Haskell, Texas, at 7:00PM.
Gilbert was born February 4, 1959, in Knox City, Texas to Maria (Rocha) and Joe Rojas. He was raised in O’Brien, Texas and later moved to Haskell, Texas, where he married the love of his life Dealanda Pèna in 1980. Together they were blessed with two children, Gilbert Jr. and Selena. He loved his children and he would tell you there was nothing better than grandkids; they brought him constant joy.
He enjoyed spending time with family, his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. He brought the laughter. He was a strong hard worker. He worked and tackled every job he could find. His faith in Jesus was his testimony. He knew he could call on His Savior and that he did till the end. Thank you Jesus for never leaving him or forsaking him.
He is survived by his wife Dealanda Rojas; son, Gilbert Jr. ; daughter, Selena Rojas and son in law Zach Escobedo, and three grandchildren; Isaac Rojas of Midland, Texas, Cruz Rojas of Haskell, Texas and Zachary Escobedo II of Haskell, Texas; six brothers; six sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved and cherished him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Maria Rojas; his grandparents, Gregorio and Natalie Rocha, and a nephew, Christopher Rojas.
