July 19, 1919 - July 14th, 2017
Gilda C. Younnel, 97, passed away peacefully with her family around her July 14th, 2017. Gilda was born to Charles and Margarite Cima in San Francisco and was a graduate of Galileo High School and the S.F. City College. She met the love of her life George Younnel in San Francisco and moved to the Stockton area at the beginning of WW II. Her husband went into the cattle business in support of the war effort. She assisted her husband after the war in starting the Younnel Meat Company, a wholesale provider of meat products to local grocery businesses and restaurants. The couple retired in 1978 and greatly enjoyed a comfortable retirement in Stockton. They traveled to both Italy and Greece frequently. Gilda enjoyed spending time with her many close friends and was involved in many social events and activities. She will be missed by her family and by her dear friends in her monthly canasta club, as well as many others that had the opportunity to know her. She was a member of the First Unitarian Church, the Lodi Italian Club and the Stockton Philomathean Club. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Silber (Herbert) and son Creighton Younnel (Bertha). Grand children Erik Silber (Lani) and Sarah Frank (Dan). She has four great-grandchildren: Noah Silber, Aiden Frank, Drew Frank and Jackson Frank. She will also be dearly missed by her caregiver Eulah Starr. Services will be private and a memorial to her life will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, give your loved ones a HUG, you never know when it will be their last.

Gilda was a second grandmother to me. My 12 years as her neighbor were some of the best of my life. I feel so blessed to have known her and George. I gave birth to two boys as her neighbor, if either of them had been a girl there would have been another Gilda in this world. I know she had a very close group of friends, her French club and card club, that kept her young, I feel your loss. She always gave me a panettone from her mother's home town at Christmas, I'll search one out in her honor from here on out.

To the family of Gilda Younnel - Al and I want to extend our heartfelt sympathies to each and everyone of you re the loss of your loved one. Jill was certainly a special person and was admired by all of us from her neighborhood. We moved into our home across the street 50+ years ago meeting Jill just by chance one day walking one of our youngsters. With that meeting learned that George was her husband, who I knew from the Butcher's Union as I was employed there and helped Jill and George many times for one reason or another. It turned out to be a small world for us. We are sure she took her chalk board with her so she can carry on a conversation with George and tell him how much she has missed him! God bless you all.

Gilda was like a grandmother to me. I loved her so dearly and truly. She had me laughing at every turn. My family adored her, as well. She was so set in her ways and still so kind in having me do things her way! I will always smile with the thought of her and George. I am blessed to have so many memories, hugs and kisses from the wonderful Gilda Younnel. My condolences to the families.
