Mike gave me a lifeline when he offered me the very last Honors program slot/scholarship (after someone else declined it). It was only days before classes started, and I was resigned to believing college wasn't for me. Mike was the first academic to believe in me, and follow it up with mentorship and support. Years later, Mike was the first person I thanked in my Ph.D. dissertation. Rest in power professor Burton

It was a pleasure working with Mike through the years at San Antonio College. He was always energetic, positive, and professional. His leadership of the Honors program helped us to attract and keep a number of excellent students. My son was a participant in the program and couldn't say enough good things about it. My condolences to the family.

Mike was friend, colleague, and inspirational team mate for our vertical alignment teams. His honest and transparent communication style put high school and college faculty at ease and raised everyone's contributions. He is already missed.
