Gilson will remain an inspiration for all of us drummers of a certain age.
I was a privileged to see him play on many occasions, he was a gentleman and is irreplaceable. His legacy will live on.

I met Gilson once and had a cuppa and a chat.
It wasn´t until later I realised he was a famous musician. Whilst we chatted he came across as a very genuine kind man and not starry at all.
I´ve thought of you often since and am glad to know you are at peace xx

In the early 1970s, before Gilson's Squeeze days, I managed a four piece band called Headline News of which he was the drummer. They toured American bases in Germany and did gigs in the UK. Lovely warm guy whose talent was evident all those years ago. RIP.

Sorry to hear of his passing. 3 of us girls would go out Dancing in the early 80´s. In the US you had to be 21 to get into the night clubs. We loved Squeeze! Tempted and Black Coffee in Bed ARE are favorites. Awesome drummer!!!!
Rest in Peace
