Gina Etier Obituary
Harlan Etier
WESLACO, TX. -Gina Sue Harlan Etier, 53, passed away July 26, 2008 at Aurora House in Weslaco.
She was born January 18, 1955 in Granite City, Illinois to James and Eldonna Kendrick Harlan. She graduated from Granite City High School in 1973 and McKendree College in Lebanon, IL in 1977, where she received a Bachelor degree in Education.
She moved to Weslaco in 1977 and began her 30 year teaching career at what in now Cuellar Middle School and went on to teach at Airport Elementary School until the time of her death.
She married John Faborn Etier on November 8, 1980. Her oldest son, Johnathon James Etier was born November 28, 1984 and her youngest son, Joshua Cameron Etier was born October 6, 1989.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
She is survived by her loving husband, John F. Etier; her sons, Johnathon James Etier and Joshua Cameron Etier, all of Weslaco; her father, James Harlan; and brother, James Harlan and wife, Deanna and son, Austin. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, July 29, 2008 from 4pm to 8pm with family receiving friends from 5pm to 7pm at McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.
No local services will be held.
Funeral services will be held in Weatherford, TX under the direction of White's Funeral Home.
Local arrangements are under the direction of McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.

My deepest sympathy to you in this time of sorrow. Gina was not only a sweet friend to everyone around her, but an awesome teacher. My son, Pablo had the honor of having her as a teacher and I also had the honor to work with her. We will truly miss her. May the Lord bless you and give you strength in this time of need.

I am deeply saddened today to hear of Gina's passing. Gina was my teaching partner for a year when I taught 2nd grade at Airport. She was awesome to work with and our students loved her. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of sorrow.

Etier Family, I am saddened at the loss of such a wonderful woman. I am honored to say I worked with her for many years at Airport Elementary. I was always so impressed at how neat and organized her classroom was and how well-behaved her students were. We had several chats about our children, Johnathon and my daughter, Valerie since they were in high school together. God's grace was certainly upon her this last year and I admired the strength and determination she had. My deepest condolences and prayers to all of you. God bless and comfort you always.

My sympathy to the Etier family. Mrs. Etier was my teacher at Cuellar and my daughter's teacher at Airport Elementary. She was an excellant teacher and a great friend as well. My daughter and I will surely miss her.

Gina was a beautiful person. From when i was in elementary til now she has always offered advice and been a good listener. She was the greatest next door neighboor you could ask for growing up, and we are praying for her family through this time.

Gina Etier was a wonderful lady. I enjoyed my talks with her both on a personal level and when in discussion about one of her students. Her eyes sparkled and her smile was contagious...ALWAYS POSITIVE ABOUT EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING! Gina Etier, you have touched the lives of many. I met Mrs. Etier this year, she was my sons 3rd grade teacher at airport. One of the best teachers ever. She will be missed greatly. Our prayers go out to the family.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Mrs. Etier's passing. She was my teacher in second grade at Margo Elementary twenty years ago. I fondly remember the sound of her voice and the way she would wear her hair. I send my heartfelt condolences to her friends and family.

Mrs. Etier was my second grade teacher at Airport Elementary School and she was one of my favorites. The teaching community has suffered a great loss because she was one of the best teachers that I have ever known. Mrs. Etier was not only a great teacher, but cared about her students on a personal level. I remember we had a trip to the zoo in Brownsville and my uncle, Joe was one of the chaperones and some of the kids didn't have enough money to buy items from the concession stand and Mrs. Etier and my uncle both shared in the expense so those kids could buy refreshments. Mrs. Etier will never be forgotten, she will be in my heart always. My deepest sympathy to the family.
