Gina Revella Fisher (Otteson), age 73, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, in
Salt Lake City, Utah, due to complications from a serious fall.
Gina was born January 17, 1952 to Keith & Oral Otteson. She was the youngest of three children and forever cherished her role as the baby of the family. She carried with her a deep love for learning and personal growth throughout her life. A proud graduate of the University of Utah, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and later pursued a Master of Arts in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix.
After completing her college education, Gina embarked on a new chapter by accepting a job in San Francisco. She cherished the time spent there, especially when her nieces and parents came to visit. Her years in San Francisco were formative and full of adventure, including surviving the 1989 earthquake. Following that life-altering event, she relocated to Los Angeles where she was introduced to Manny Fisher. They married on May 26, 1993, and later moved back to Salt Lake City. Though their marriage eventually ended in divorce, Gina maintained warm and enduring relationships with her step-daughters Jessica and Tami, bonds that remained strong throughout her life.
Her professional life was marked by over 26 years of dedication to print advertising sales, retail promotions, marketing, project management, and community outreach development. Among the highlights of her career were her impactful roles at the Children's Miracle Network and the University of Utah Alumni Association, where she served as a Marketing Manager. She also held a position as an Account Executive at MediaOne (formerly the Salt Lake Tribune), where her father once worked as an editor, an association that brought her great pride.
Gina had a profound appreciation for the arts and was known for her generous spirit in sharing that passion with others. Whether it was inviting loved ones to the theater, symphony, ballet, botanical gardens, opera, or local choir performances, including listening to her neighbors' weekly soul choir practice, she found joy in every note and brushstroke. A gifted flutist and enthusiastic singer herself, Gina's love for music was matched only by her love for animals. She especially adored basset hounds and was deeply involved with The Basset Hound Rescue Foundation, fostering and adopting as many dogs as she could.
Her commitment to service extended far beyond her professional life. Gina volunteered with Intermountain Therapy Animals, The League of Women Voters, and in July of 2002, she joined an international Fellowship. It became a meaningful part of her later years. Her dedication led her to serve as editor for their local newsletter, a role through which she shared stories and strengthened connections among members. Her compassion and desire to uplift others were evident in every aspect of her life.
Faith was a journey for Gina, one shaped by early loss and personal trials, but in recent years she found comfort through nightly scripture readings and prayer with her niece Megin and family. She later received her temple endowments and embraced service within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through the compassionate service committee. Her family extends their deepest gratitude to her Bishopric, ward leadership and members for their unwavering support of Gina.
Gina is survived by her sister-in-law Tracy V. Otteson, beloved nieces: Megin Hoecherl (Joshua), Sarah Linton (Brian), Sharlotte Otteson (Ian Johnson-yes, they're married!), Dauci Otteson, Jocalyn Tate (JT); step-daughters Jessica Perry-Martin and Tami Fisher; cousins Gwen Pierce and Michale Forman; six gorgeous great-nieces; six handsome grand-nephews; and three of the world's most adorable great-great-nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Keith V. and Oral F. Otteson; sister April Kay; brother Gregg D.; and niece Gerri Wray Allen.
Gina's legacy is one of creativity, resilience, laughter, generosity, and deep familial love. She often spoke fondly of being a cowgirl - her hat in hand, proudly perched atop her noble steed (a pony) - a moment captured in countless photos found throughout her home. But above all else, Gina loved her family fiercely.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to Gina's dear friends within the Fellowship, The Basset Hound Rescue Foundation, and all who stood by her with love and care. Also, to the team members and medical staff of Meadow Peak Rehabilitation, Monument Health South Salt Lake, Utah Senior Planning, and True North Home Health and Hospice, especially nurse Amy.
May Gina's memory bring comfort to all who knew her-and may we carry forward her example of kindness, curiosity, and devotion to both community and kin. A Memorial Service will be held on August 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Forest Dale Ward 739 E. Ashton Avenue,
Salt Lake City, UT 84106.
