Ginger Thompson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 3, 2025.
Mrs. Ginger Dale Thompson, affectionately known as "Nanie Dale," passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, in Semora, North Carolina, at the age of 73. Her passing marks the loss of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend whose warmth and laughter left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Born on January 17, 1952, in Danville, Virginia, Ginger was the daughter of Mamie Briggs and the late Willard "Cotton" Briggs. She grew up surrounded by family and community in a home that nurtured her generous spirit and joyful heart. A proud graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School's Class of 1970, Ginger carried with her the values of kindness and dedication throughout her life.

Ginger was a member of Old Lea Bethel Baptist Church, where her faith was a guiding light. Her love for children was evident in every aspect of her life-whether she was caring for her own grandchildren or babysitting countless others over the years. Her home was always open, filled with laughter, hugs, and the comforting scent of something blooming from her flower beds.

She found joy in simple pleasures: tending to her flowers with care, browsing through shops with a sparkle in her eye, and most especially spending time with her family. Her playful spirit and lighthearted sense of humor made every gathering brighter. Children were drawn to her warmth; she had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel special and loved.

Ginger is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Thompson; her devoted mother, Mamie Briggs; and three daughters who were the pride of her life: Kimberly Soloman (Ricky), Nicole Langley (Chris), and Teresa Wrenn (Heath). She also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren: Taylor Hargis (Brandon), Tyler Pleasant (Edy), Colton Pleasant (Cassidy), Jordan Langley, Caitlin Langley, Allie Wrenn, and Timothy Wrenn; as well as three adored great-grandchildren: Preston, Presely, and Mason.

She is also survived by two brothers who shared in many memories throughout their lives: Ray Briggs (Janet) and Willard Briggs (Wanda); along with countless nieces and nephews who will remember their aunt's laughter and love.

In addition to her father Willard (Cotton) Briggs, Ginger was preceded in death by many loved ones whose memories she carried close to her heart.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to caregivers Judy Vernon and Carla Cox for their compassionate care during Ginger's final days. Special thanks are also given to Amedisys Hospice Care for their support and guidance during this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ginger Thompson's memory to Amedisys Hospice Care.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the home of Kimberly & Ricky Soloman at 14935 NC Hwy 119 N in Semora to honor Ginger's life and share memories that celebrate the joy she brought into the world.

Ginger Dale Thompson will be remembered for the love she gave so freely-the kind that lives on in every smile she inspired. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her. A Memorial Gathering will be held on September 5, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Old Lea Bethel Baptist Church 6035 Ridgeville Rd. Visitation from 10:00a.m - 11:00a.m. Service to follow at 11:00a.m.

Ginger Dale was my sweetest friend at Bartlett Yancey and BYHS.
We had several fun sleep overs at her relatives home next door to her mom's in Top Not community
I will always cherish our friendship from back then.
After school and marriage we lost contact except occasionally meet in church (Old Lea Bethel )
Love you Ginger Dale...RIP until we see each other in heaven one day.
My deepest sympathy and prayers for you all. Especially Mamie and her children.

Nanie Dale, I wish I could remember more of our memories but I remember how loved you made me feel when you babysat me and how excited I was on Halloween to come to your house and see you. My mom says you took the best care of me before and after my first open heart surgery, and that she always knew I was in the best care when I was with you. I really love you and my family thinks the world of you. Rest in peace sweet lady.
