Gisela Walker

Gisela Walker, of Newbury, NH passed away peacefully on 15 Oct 2024 after a brief illness at Concord Hospital. She was 86 years old. She was born in 1938 in Kiel, Germany, and immigrated to the United States in 1958 with her husband CMSgt James A. Walker.

She was a talented hummel and French porcelain restorer, painter, crafts maker and seamstress. As a young woman Gisela survived harrowing events in war-torn Germany and would tell of stories of her times as a young girl. After the war, she worked in various locations to support herself and her family. It was in Landstuhl Germany where she met her husband, Jim, while at a USO dance. As the military took the family all over the world and the United States, she was always there with a quick smile and genuine helpful nature. Not knowing the language, she would watch TV and teach herself English. She became a US citizen in 1958 and was very proud of that accomplishment. She brought joy to everybody she encountered with a smile and wave. She will be profoundly missed by her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, James, in 2007; and by her siblings, Hilde Lindemann and Rudolph Ludwig, and her parents, Reinhold Rudolph Ludwig and Luise Dorothea Magdalena Wittern. Sisters Inge Stiltner, Hatte Lewis and Ursula Chambers survive her. Gisela was a devoted mother, and her greatest accomplishment were her children. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters Sandra Warde (J Scott) of Newbury NH, Patricia L. Pointer (Gary) of Scarborough ME and son James M. Walker of Charlotte, NC. She also leaves her grandsons Brian Pointer (Megan), Devin Walker (Sarai) and Seth Walker that were the light of her life, and she doted on them with all her love.

Private services will be held at a later date.
