Dick Matchuret Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 22 to Dec. 30, 2014.
Dick Matchuret passed away at home on Nov. 15, 2014.
He was born on July 3, 1931 to Nellie and Fred Matchuret in Sebewaing.
His parents moved to Tawas City when he was just a small boy. He was predeceased by his father in 1960 and his mother in 2010.
He leaves behind his daughter, Mary Beth (Binder); a granddaughter, Paige (Binder); a sister, Marge (Sam Shealy); nieces Pam (Tom Vann), Colleen (Moore), and Susan (Gaeta); a nephew, Dan Shealy (Alison); several great-nieces and nephews; aunts, Syl Kosovich and Loretta Daniels (Whitey); and step-daughters, Cindy Brooks and Roselyn Potter. He is also survived by his companion, Pat Peterson, and her daughter, Karen Dixon (Glen).
He held several jobs as a young man at places such as Silver Valley Sports Arena and Lake Huron Fisheries before becoming a marine in 1952. He served in Japan during the Korean War as a marine corporal. After being honorably discharged, he moved to Flint and worked for Ternstedt's for 17 years, producing automobile parts. There he met, married and started a family with Rosemary Kellogg. He then moved back to Tawas and embarked on a career in carpentry.
Matchuret loved fishing, swimming, carving, painting, and bike riding. He played softball for many years as a pitcher. Many knew him by the nickname "Chucker." His friendships with the "Coffee Club and Staff" and the "Park Bench Buddies" were a great source of joy for him. His family described him as a funny, outspoken prankster.
There will be a graveside memorial service held in the spring. A notification will be published in this newspaper.
