To add to my previous note I only wish that her high school, then known a AB Davis, had been mentioned. At one time many of the graduates were judges or distinguished members of the bar.

It was my privilege to appear before Judge Kessler both when she was on the Superior Court bench and later at the federal court. Judge Kessler was intellectually sharp, and she brooked no nonsense. Off the bench she was warm and friendly. She was supportive of younger women in the profession.
My condolences to her family.

When she was a DC Superior Court Judge, Gladys Kessler may have been one of the most impressive (and scariest) jurists I have ever appeared before. She knew her stuff...there was no faking it when appearing before her. She was also one the sweetest persons I have known off the bench. My condolences to the family
