I was saddened to learn of Gladys's passing. She was a great friend of literacy, Through her work with Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and Literacy Pittsburgh, she helped to improve the lives of thousands of Pittsburgh area residents through access to learning and greater opportunity.
Despite her powerful positions, Gladys was always a very down-to-earth person, genuinely interested in the lives of others, and always had a kind word whenever I met her. I admired her and will always remember her fondly.
My condolences to her family. May your many happy memories sustain you through this difficult time.

A classy lady who will be missed by many. She provided thoughtful input, often from a perspective that no one had previously considered, as decisions were made at our Rotary Club in Forest Hills. She was a blessing to all of us.

Dear Gladys will be missed by many. She touched so many people and made such a positive impact on this world. Especially to her Rotary family and all we do. The world will be a little less bright with her passing and we all need to do more to live up to her example.

As a member of the Rotary Club of Pittsburgh, Gladys provided me with so much from helping correct my grammar and enhance clarity to my communications to always being there with advice and support. Even though our time together was only a few years, I truly admired her willingness to help and be a participant. She was truly a person to look up to and admire.
