JOHN VOGT MERRITT ISLAND John (Jack) Vogt, owner of the popular Courtyard on Grove Restaurant, died peacefully at home with family, Tuesday, April 19, 2006 after a three year struggle with cancer. He was born in St. Louis, MO on Sep tember 18, 1926 and his love and loyalty to the St. Louis area remained with him throughout his life. In his youth he proudly served in both World War II (Merchant Marines) and the Ko rean War (Air Force). His adult life was spent in the sporting goods business. He loved sell ing and conversing with people. The sport he loved the most and earned him many trophies was swimming. His optimism and fighting spirit was with him to the end. Survivors include his wife, Jerre; brother, Alvin (Buzz) and wife Beverly Vogt, niece Elizabeth; sons, John and wife Maureen Vogt and their chil dren,Jessie, Joshua, Jamie, Jaiden and Jordan; Craig Vogt and his children, John and Abraham; daughters, Stephanie and husband Bob Bonstell, and their children, Chad and Sar ah;Holly and husband, Mark Hartzell and their daughter, Kayla; stepson, Jeffrey and wife Cindy Young and their children, Kristy and Corey; step- daugh ters, Daune and husband Mark Ellis and their children, Carley, Sean and Sadie; and Leslie and husband Randy Buddemeyer and their children Andrew, Ben jamin, Nicholas and Brenton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jacks memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 or to the Barth Syndrome Foundation, P.O. Box 618, Larchmont, NY, 10538. (www.barthsyndrome.org) A celebration of life will be held at the Courtyard on Grove at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to East Coast Cremation, Rockledge 632-1350.
