Gadsden - Funeral services for Gladys Huie Abernathy Tolleson will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 1 pm at Crestwood Funeral Home in East Gadsden. Pastors Randy Postell and Andy Hadley will officiate. Interment will follow at the Crestwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Tolleson passed away on March 14, 2025, after a brief illness. Visitation by friends and family will be from 11 am until 1 pm on the day of the Funeral service.

Gladys Huie was born on August 1, 1929, in Etowah County to Jim and Leila Huie. Gladys graduated from Glencoe High School in 1946. Gladys retired from Goodyear in 1987 after 41 years of service.

Gladys was a "born again" Christian and an active member of East Gadsden Baptist Church. It was there that she taught a women's Sunday School class for over 22 years.

Her other interests included travel, camping, sewing, cooking, charity work and fellowship with friends and family.

Mrs. Tolleson was proceeded in death by her parents, Jim and Leila Huie; first husband Lewis J. Abernathy; daughter-in-law Cathy Jordan Abernathy; brother Jake Huie; brother Bill Huie; and sister Mable Hoge.

Glady Tolleson is survived by her husband of 53 years Charles Tolleson; brother Jim Huie (Margaret) of Huntsville; sons Robert (Donna) Abernathy of Jacksonville and Thomas (Carol) of Suwanee, GA; daughters Lisa Myers (Brent) of Mobile; Teresa (Tab) Carr of Gadsden; and Connie (Earl) Johnson of Guntersville.

The family of Gladys extends thanks to the support and care she received from her caregivers to include Danielle, Kathy, Kim, Chelsey, Jesslyn, Amdedisys Hospice, Dr. Mayberry, Nurse Hannah and Nurse Kelsey.

Honorary pallbearers include her 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

The pallbearers include Joe Wheeler, Corey Winston, Gary O'Bryant, Murlis Boozer, Bill Williams and Mike Griffin.

In lieu of flowers, Gladys requested donations be made to Way of the Cross, 101 N. 24th Street, Gadsden, AL 35904
