Gladys Vicioso Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 15, 2024.
Gladys Frances Vicioso, tia, sister, and beloved friend of many, died in Berkeley, CA, on November 3, 2024, at age 66.

Gladys was born in the Bronx, NY, on December 3, 1957. She spent her youth throughout Los Angeles, the Dominican Republic, and the Bay Area. Following her exploratory years (which, perhaps, never ended!), Gladys became a neonatal intensive care nurse at UCSF. She loved her preemie babies and followed several of them throughout their lives.

Gladys lived a big-hearted life. She loved to travel, live music, literature, baseball, being around children, and her animal companions. As a lifelong ocean lover and grand celebrator, you can still hear her in the waves and with every pop of a champagne cork.

Gladys is survived by her brother Michael Vicioso, her sister Daniela Caroselli, her close friends and neighbors Mark and Erin Rhoades, many Dominican cousins, and her six nieces and nephews: Joseph Vicioso, Emily Vicioso, Genevieve Vicioso-Gonsiorek, Thomas Rhoades, Jasper Rhoades, and Jessica Vicioso, and her two kitties, O'Neill and Astrid.

Gladys' Celebration of Life will take place at Berkeley Yacht Club on December 28, 2024, from 3-6 pm.

Her tenderness, always tender, always loving, always sweet, always special, I admired her so mucho growing up, my tanned Californian cousin with long hair just like the movies. As I grew older I got to see how much she loved, how much she cared and the inmensity of her heart. I will always carry her with me and her words are always on my mind. She let me know I did not have to try so hard. Mi prima adorada, te vere en el cielo
