Reno - Glen Rossman, 78, passed away on August 10, 2025, in
Reno, Nevada. Born on July 30, 1947, in San Luis Obispo, California, Glen lived a life marked by personal passion, professional excellence, and a deep appreciation for the world around him.
A proud graduate of San Jose State University, Glen earned his B.S. in Business Administration as a Presidential Scholar-an early testament to his intellect and drive. Quickly earning his CPA, his career spanned decades of leadership and innovation in the field of taxation and global business strategy. Glen retired from Cisco Systems, Inc. in December 2005 after seven impactful years as Vice President of Global Taxation and Customs at their San Jose headquarters. Prior to Cisco, he served as Market Managing Tax Partner at Coopers & Lybrand, L.L.P., where he led a team of over 100 consultants. Under his guidance, they structured and negotiated international mergers, acquisitions, and business start-ups for more than 100 companies across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. He began his career at Arthur Andersen & Co. in San Jose, where he was the youngest person ever promoted to Tax Manager.
Glen's professional influence extended beyond corporate boardrooms. He was actively involved with numerous organizations throughout California including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Commission on Tax Policy in the New Economy, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), the County of San Mateo Health System, and the Montalvo Arts Center. He also lent his expertise to several Silicon Valley-based startups-always eager to contribute to innovation and growth.
Despite being born congenitally blind in his right eye and technically color blind, Glen had an extraordinary discernment for beauty. He was intuitive about people and deeply attuned to nature's wonders. His love for vibrant colors found expression in the artwork that adorned his home and in his ever-growing collection of colorful glasses, including frames that were red, blue, green, black-and-white striped, gray with neon green, black with bright yellow-the list goes on. These distinctive accessories became something of a signature look; it was not uncommon for strangers to stop him just to say how much they loved his glasses!
Glen's passions extended well beyond fashion. He was an avid enthusiast of fast cars-owning nearly 50 vehicles over the years, along with several motorcycles. After moving to Nevada in 2015, his greatest joy was as Captain aboard his beloved C-Dory boat, "Hunky Dory," on Lake Tahoe: one of only two known on those waters.
A student of world history and foreign affairs, Glen followed national and local politics closely and relished spirited debates with anyone willing to engage him. His intellectual curiosity was matched only by his generosity of spirit. Whether mentoring colleagues or sharing heartfelt moments with friends and family, Glen left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Anne, his daughter, Brianne DiFalco, her husband, Joe and their two children, Cameron and Sophie living in Beaverton, Oregon. His younger brother, John Rossman, resides in Santa Cruz, California. The brothers were preceded in death by their parents, Beverly and Robert Rossman.
Glen was a man who embraced life fully-with wisdom, wit, style, and compassion. As one former colleague put it best: "Glen Rossman-you're one hard act to follow." He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His ashes will rest in the columbarium at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church in Incline Village, NV.
In lieu of flowers, Glen's favored charities included
St Jude Children's Research Hospital, The American Legion and, the
American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. A donation made in his name to any one of these is greatly appreciated.
