Glenice Cook Burdick, 92 of DeRuyter, NY, peacefully passed away on November 1, 2023 following a brief illness. Glenice June Cook was born in DeRuyter, NY on May 31, 1931 to Harold W. and Mildred Brown Cook. She married Willard D. Burdick on November 16, 1952. They were married for 62 years before Willard's passing in 2014. Glennie is survived by two daughters, Deborah Ayers and Sandra (Rae) Wilcox. She is also survived by her three grandsons; Matt (Nikki) Skeele, Erik (Reba) Skeele, and Steven Wilcox and six greatgrandchildren; Addy, Aiden, Ava, Grayson, Della, and Maverik.
Glennie was a 1949 graduate of DeRuyter Central School and a 1950 graduate of Cortland Business Institute. Following graduation, she joined the family business, H. W. Cook Farm Service, Inc., as a partner. In 1988, Glennie founded the business currently operating in DeRuyter as Countryside Hardware, Inc.
Glenice was a 60-year member of the DeRuyter Eastern Star and DeRuyter Firemen's Auxiliary serving as the treasurer of the latter for over 30 years. She was also a member of the former Methodist Church in DeRuyter. Glennie proudly served as a director for the Leader Evaporator Company for six years.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of DeRuyter, DeRuyter, NY. Burial will immediately follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, DeRuyter.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Glennie may direct donations to the Madison County (NY) Office for the Aging Home Delivered Meals Program, 138 Dominic Bruno Blvd., Canastota, NY 13032 or the Tioughnioga (DeRuyter) Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. Box 278, DeRuyter NY 13052.
