Glenn Compton Obituary
Born July 24, 1956, in Richlands, Va., he was a son of Ilene Hale Compton Wolfe of Council and the late William Edward Compton. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church and a 1974 graduate of Council High School. He was a retired brakeman, having been employed by Norfolk and Southern Railroad.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Darrell Compton; his maternal grandparents, Ira and Electa Hale; and paternal grandparents, Elkanah and Cora Compton.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Fletcher Compton; one son, Preston Wayne Compton; one daughter, Ann Marie Compton; his mother, Ilene Compton Wolfe and husband Charles; one brother, Paul William Compton and wife Arlen; two nephews, Eddie Compton and Charlie Compton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Va., with the Rev. Carl Burmeier officiating. Interment will follow in the Hale Cemetery at Council.
Cousins and brothers-in-law will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Keithal Breeding and John David Hale.
Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Monday, where a song service will be conducted at 7 p.m.

On April 19th 2008 we lost a dear friend. As we reflect back to Whimpy we can remember his racing tee shirts, denim shirt, and his caps. He was so close to our family and spent many hours at our home. He and Sherman spent many hours discussing the word of God. We feel in our hearts Whimpy suffered so much pain but now we believe he is in Heaven. He doesn't have to suffer anymore. He is totally restored and all of his brokeness is gone. We are praying much for his family and we believe that we will see our friend Whimpy again when we get to Heaven.

I am so sorry for your loss of Glen. He was a really good friend of our family and he is truly missed by all of us. I would get so excited when I would come to visit Mom and Dad and he would be here.. He was the sweetest man and had such a caring heart for others. It feels like a dream that he is gone. To Sally, Preston.Ann Marie,and Ilene and all the Family, Glenn was a very special person to us .We have spent hours talking with him and the last time he was here , he wanted Prayer and him Don and I held hands and prayed down in the basement.He shed tears that day that fell to the floor. He truly loved his family so much and thats what he wanted to talk about. He also talked about how the Lord had brought him thru so many things and watching over him. It feels like we have lost a part of our family. May GOD be with you all thru the times ahead and i am going to remember the good memories and i hope you can too.
