I will miss Grandpa very much. I have many wonderful memories of him and Grandma. My favorite one (and I have many). He woke me up one morning. Said "Shh look out the window". I peeked out and there was several deer under the apple trees with brand new babies. He laughed and smiled and said "Isn't that something"? Yes it was and he was too. He made the best breakfast, soft boiled eggs, toast and a glass of milk. He told me of his trip to a worlds fair, he and a friend hoboed to it, by riding the trains. Said he really enjoyed himself. He didn't really care to travel. Preferred to be home at the farm. He was always taking me for walks and show me the animals he found. Always ones with babies, calves, kittens, bird nests. Even took me out to locate a dead animal. I nearly stepped into it, ugh. He stopped me laughed and said you don't want to be doing that. Never knew the smell of dead until that day. After that I knew what a dead animal smelled like and would avoid that area, didn't want to step in it. Go with him on the tractor for rides, more often than not we would end up cutting trees for wood. Tell me stories on the rides, one favorite was about his dog, Sport who liked to climb up onto the roof of the house. He said it was the dangest thing how that dog liked going up on that roof. Growing up in the military and being a military wife, I didn't get to spend much time with him and Grandma. The time I did was always best and given me many memories and stories to share with my husband Rob and our daughters,Sarah and Katie.
Grandpa, I love you and I will miss you. I cannot say good-bye. If I did I would feel like I was saying goodbye to a part of my heart that you are in. I couldn't say goodbye to Grandma either for the very same reason. So I will say "See you". Thank you for all the wonderful memories. All my love, Tina
