Glenn R. Hartley

SUNBURY - Glenn R. Hartley, 53, of Sunbury, died Thursday afternoon, Nov. 27, 2008, at the home of his nephew with whom he had been residing for the past 11 months because of disabilities.
A native of Union County, he was born in Kelly Township on Nov. 16, 1955, a son of the late Robert James and Rhoda Elizabeth (Catherman) Hartley.
He was a graduate of the Lewisburg Area High School and SUN Vo-Tech in 1973.
Glenn was a construction supervisor, working at Patwell Homes, Lancaster, until he quit to care for his parents. He was later part owner of Heartland Residential Development.
He was a member of Lions International. He enjoyed golf, amateur softball, which he played as a youth, and was in a dart league and pool league.
Glenn is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Thomas Schreffler, of Northumberland; one brother, Robert T. Hartley, of New Columbia; three sisters-in-law, Florence Hogentogler, of Winfield, Martha Hartley, of Mount Pleasant Mills and Marjorie Ann Hartley, of Middleburg; nephews; nieces; great-nephews and nieces; and great-great-nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Hartley in 1973, David Hartley in 1986 and Thomas Hartley in 2007; and one sister-in-law, Edith Hartley in 2007.
Friends and relatives will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg, followed by the funeral at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John H. Shaw III officiating.
Burial will be in the Lewisburg Cemetery.
The family will provide flowers and asks that donations in Glenn's memory be made to the Glenn R. Hartley Memorial Fund, in care of M&T Bank, 409 Market St., Lewisburg, PA 17837.
