Glenn E. Johnson

GLENN E. JOHNSON was born September 9, 1928 to Charles G. & Mary M. Johnson in Las Vegas, Nevada, and died July 25, 2014. He grew up in Las Vegas, Vista and Escondido, California. In his early life he worked as a bowling pin setter, grove worker and waiter. His career was as an auto body repairman, body shop manager and as a car insurance appraiser. He met Janet M. Miller at the Aragon Ballroom in Santa Monica, California. They were married at Trinity Baptist Church in Santa Monica on November 7, 1953. Janet died April 24, 2013. They lived in Santa Monica and La Mirada. They moved to Corona in 1968. In 1982 they began splitting their time between Corona and San Clemente. Glenn was involved in many civic organizations starting with being vice president of the Happy Hearts Club in Las Vegas. He was involved in Buena Park Host and Corona Lions Club, California Republican Assembly, Indian Guides, Navy League, California Auto Body Association, Corona Heritage Park, Croquet Club, Model A Club, Packard Club and the Ford Retractable Club. Glenn and Janet were also generous to many civic and Republican causes. They helped many young people further their education. He attended Pacific Coast Church in San Clemente and Crossroads Church in Corona. He was preceded in death by his wife Janet, parents and his brother Phillip Johnson. He is survived by four children, Sandra Rowe (Rick), Linda Rither (Ross), Kirk Johnson, Eric Johnson; four grandchildren, Jessica Scantling (Kevin), Becky Cass (Drew), Cody Johnson, Morgan Rither; and four great grandchildren, Kassie Scantling, Kody Scantling, Derick Cass, Annabelle Cass. He was a hard working craftsman and will be greatly missed. There will be a celebration of Glenn's life at Thomas Miller Mortuary, 1118 E 6th St, Corona, CA 92879, Tuesday, August 12 2014 at 2 pm.
