Mr. Glenn Thomas Pinchback of Charlottesville died Friday, April 21, 2017 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Born on March 21, 1936 in Cluster Springs VA, he was the son of the late Mr. Glenn Pinchback and Mrs. Dolly Bruce Pinchback. He graduated from Burley High School in Charlottesville. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Rosemary Yancey Pinchback, who passed on April 21, 2012. They married at her sister’s house in Baltimore MD on June 13, 1960 and had two sons.
His survivors include two sons (Mr. Glenn T. Pinchback II of Charlottesville and Mr. Gavin T. Pinchback of East Stroudsburg PA), two daughters-in-law (Ms. Laquita Minor Pinchback of Charlottesville and Mrs. Christina Sanders Pinchback of East Stroudsburg PA) and four grandchildren (Ryan Alexander Pinchback, Glenn Thomas Pinchback III, Susan Eleanor Pinchback and Gabrielle Tai Pinchback). Additionally, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Mrs. Ruth Yancey, of Durham NC and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Glenn proudly served in the US Army as a paratrooper and Nike Missile artilleryman. He began his law enforcement career as a Public Safety Officer with the Rockland State Psychiatric Hospital in New York then moved on to serve with the Piermont NY Police Department. Upon returning to Charlottesville in 1978, he became a Police Officer with the Charlottesville Police Department and worked until his retirement twenty years later.
Glenn enjoyed many things in life but chief among them were family, movies (particularly Westerns) and motorcycles. His favorite movie was Shane. He was an avid gun enthusiast as well, having his Federal Firearms License and becoming a Marksman in the US Army and the Charlottesville Police Department. Glenn was also conferred the title of 33rd Degree Mason by his lodge in New York. Throughout his life, he was devoted to protecting people. Thus, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to one of the following charities: Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville/Albemarle, 704 Rose Hill Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22903, cvillemeals.org or Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), 846 Old South 5, P.O. Box 3199, Camdenton, MO 65020, 573-346-4911, nationalcops.org.
A funeral service will be conducted 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the chapel of Teague Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Alvin Edwards officiating. A light repast will follow the service. A private family committal will take place at a later date.

May the comfort of the Lord cover you during this time. Pinchback was an outstanding law enforcement officer that stood for people and handle his assignment with grace and dignity. I am glad to have known him as a young Officer at UVA Police Department in the 80's and 90's. Such an enormous personality that he showered. God has gotten a great WARRIOR, now he and Jasper can connect. They now have a blessed assignment in the Spiritual Realm of God.

May the "God of all comfort" comfort you all at this time. (2 Cor 1:3)
