GLENN H. SNYDER

The sad news of Glenn Snyder's death awakened in me many fond memories of him. Glenn had an outstanding scholarly career and I was happy to be associated with it. He will be missed.

Glenn Snyder was a wonderful man -- smart, kindly, soft-spoken, and genuine. I learned so much from reading his publications, and he had a profound influence on my intellectual development.

Glenn was my dissertation advisor at UNC Chapel Hill, and I'm pretty sure I was his last dissertation student. He was a kind and insightful man, and very open-minded. I will always value his support and guidance as I finished my dissertation and PhD, and his cheerful willingness to support a rookie scholar who was going in a very different direction from his own work. A great scholar, a great mentor, and a great man.

Professor Snyder's national security seminar was one of the first I took in graduate school at Chapel Hill. I remember well his warmth, wit, and intellect. Many prayers for his peace, and for those who will miss him.

A true gentleman and scholar. He will be greatly missed.

Glenn touched the lives of many people through his scholarship, teaching and infectious smile. My best wishes for Glenn's family and friends.

A gentle man who had little patience with academic politics, Glenn was devoted to his students and his research, and took a lively interest in younger scholars delving into the mysteries of balance of power politics. He will be missed.

Professor Snyder's scholarship and collegiality have mattered a lot in my development as a political scientist. His ideas, his example, and his encouragement will continue to inspire me.

Prof. Snyder was a brilliant theorist, and very kind to me when I was a first-year assistant professor at UNC. He will be missed.
