Glenna Miller Obituary

Published by Saskatoon StarPhoenix on Jan. 16, 2012.
Glenna Cheryl Miller February 21, 1954 January 14, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister and friend Glenna Cheryl Miller on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at the age of 57. She fought a courageous two and one half year battle with ovarian cancer but this past week entered City Hospital for their exceptional care and died peacefully with loved ones by her side. Glenna is survived by her mother Alma; sisters Penny (Don), Arlene and family; and best friend and soul mate Randy Brissette. She was predeceased by her father Glen, brother Marlon in 1975 and her sister Suzanne in 2001. Glenna was a keen competitor in sports. She loved her dogs and her horses and enjoyed motorcycle trips with her brother Marley. Glenna dedicated her working life to the University of Saskatchewan College of Veterinary Medicine and after 26 years retired in June 2010. Glenna saw the beauty in nature and animals. Her favorite place to go was Candle Lake with Randy. They would go boating, fishing or hiking with the dogs. Life was good. She faced her health challenges with determination and chose to embrace life and live it to its fullest. Glenna was a kind, loving person with a forgiving heart. We will love her and miss her always. A Celebration of Glenna's life will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th Street, first right past Briargate Road) with interment and reception to follow. Memorial Donations will be gratefully accepted to the Children's Hospital Foundation (#1-345 3rd Ave. S. Saskatoon, SK S7M 1M6). Arrangements entrusted to Sten Olesen.

Dear Alma, Penny, Don and Arlene,
No words can ease the pain from the loss of a loved one. I hope you know I share your sorrow and treasure so many fond (and fun) memories of our times together. Glenna (a.k.a Mrs. Millhouse)with a laugh that enveloped you and a spirit that inspired you! I can remember many a card game at the old house in Delisle - Evelyn, Marley, Glenna & myself sitting around the dining table eating Chef Boyardee pizza (from a can) and getting giddy on Diet Coke. What I wouldn't give for just one more game.

Deepest sympathy to Glenna's loved ones. I know you will miss her terribly. I haven't seen her in years but have never forgotten the twinkle in her eye, her ready smile and the laughter and fun times we shared. I particularly remember once when she took me home to Delisle and back to Saskatoon again, on her motorcycle! She was a terrific friend. Prayers and condolences from an old chum,

So sorry to hear that Glenna lost her valiant fight. I had the privilige of being a fellow vet tech at WCVM with Glenna, she had a great helpful spirit and sense of humor in her lab. I also saw her frequently thru the fall at the cancer clinic, and even though tired she always had a smile and warm hug. She will be missed.

I remember Glenna WAY back when she first took over from me in the vet
anatomy dept. I remember her Irish Setter and how smart he was -
highly unusual for an Irish Setter! I was impressed. She was always
smiling and laughing - fabulous laugh! And I remember competing against her team at a flyball tournement in Warren - it was good to see her after so many years and she was working with yet another tough breed for training - australian cattle dogs! Man, that girl really enjoyed
challenges. Throughout her whole life that I knew her, I will always
remember her winning smile, sense of humour and readiness to help. She will be missed.

Alma, Penny & Family, Arlene & Family, Randy - my very deepest sympathy and thoughts are with you all. ~What moves through you is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, you may not understand why she left this earth so soon, or why she left before you were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, you will begin to remember not just that she died, but that Glenna truly lived - and that her life gave you memories too beautiful to forget.~ Love, Bren & Loris Smith

To Glenna's family & to Randy,
My sisters, Heide, Elizabeth & myself, had the pleasure of meeting and working with Glenna on the Saskatoon Walk of Hope Committee for the past two years. We are very sad to hear of her passing. Glenna had a very good outlook on life, she was a very kind person, soft spoken & a hard working committee member. We understand very well the difficult journey she had over the past 2 1/2 years, as well as her family, as we lost our own sister, Barbara to Ovarian Cancer three years ago this month. Glenna will remain in our hearts for ever. May the love & support of family & friends help you all throughout the coming difficult days ahead. Sincerely, Heide Kolla, Elizabeth Miazga & Catherine Mazurkewich
