Glenwood Playdon Condrey

Glen Condrey, 88, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Northern Virginia, Glen proudly served his country in the United States Army as a member of the esteemed 82nd Airborne Division. Following his service, Glen dedicated 30 years of his career as a heating and air-conditioning salesman for Sears before retiring.

Glen and his beloved wife of 64 years, Ellen Condrey, cherished their retirement years together, first enjoying life on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia and later in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Glen found great joy in hosting friends and loved ones aboard his boat on the Chesapeake Bay. The couple ultimately settled in the Charlotte area to be close to their family. Sharing laughter and memories that will be treasured forever.

An avid cyclist and passionate reader, Glen led a life filled with curiosity, adventure, and love for life's simple pleasures. His warmth, humor, and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Glen is survived by his devoted wife, Ellen Condrey; his son Al Condrey and partner Donna Marie Faro; his son Ralph Condrey and his wife Molly Condrey, along with their daughter Willa, who brought him immense joy as his cherished granddaughter. Glen is also survived by his beloved companion, Precious the Maltese who was his steadfast companion for these past few years.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 1st, at 2:00 pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Following the service, the family will have a reception in the church parish hall, where friends and loved ones can gather to celebrate Glen's remarkable life.

In place of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Glen's memory to a charity of your choice. Glen's legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
