BREWSTER — Gloria Swegman Brundage, 91, passed away on Aug. 22, 2008.

Gloria was born and raised in Madison, Wis., and was a graduate of Columbia School of Journalism in 1952. She earned her Ph.D. in communication from NY University in 1969, with a biography in "Who's Who of America" and "Who's Who of the World."

Gloria Swegman Brundage began her career at WRC Washington. She received her newspaper training as a member of the Washington Newspaper Guild School for young reporters at The Washington Post, assigned to White House correspondent Edward T. Folliard.

From 1945 to 1949 Gloria was farm editor on the Topeka Daily Capital and Women's Program WIBW Topeka. Coming to Columbia University on scholarships, Gloria received her B.S. from the School of General Studies, and her M.S. from the Columbia School of Journalism.

Gloria subsequently taught at the University of New York at Potsdam, University of Dayton, Boston University School of Communications, Marquette University and Syracuse University. In retirement, Gloria was a member of the Cape Cod Commission and she served on the Massachusetts Arts Council.

She is survived by her sister Patricia E. Foreaker, also of Brewster. It was Gloria's wishes that there be no service and the burial be private.
