LONGVIEW — Services for Gloria Gayle Goode Phillips will be 1 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2012, at Welch Funeral Home Garden Court, with Dr. Bill Teague officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Park. The family will receive friends at noon, prior to the services, at the funeral home.
Gloria Gayle Goode Philips, beloved daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, passed into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, February 17, 2012, at the Lighthouse at Altenheim Hospice, in Round Rock, Texas.
Gloria was born February 4, 1946, in Houston, Texas, to Bernice L. Goode and Gayle Gandy Goode. She spent her youth as an United States Air Force family member, residing in Atwater, California; Orlando, Florida; and Tachikawa Air Force Base, Japan. She attended Crockett Junior High in Orlando, and graduated from Yamato High School in Japan in 1964.
Following high school graduation, Gloria attended Church College of Hawaii in Laie, and later the University of Texas in Austin, where she married Ronald D. Phillips, her lifelong partner.
After college, Gloria supported her husband as an Army wife, during his 26-year military career in the U.S. Army, living in Germany for more than 11 years and in various military bases within the United States, while raising two beautiful sons, Ronald Scott and Steven Gary Phillips.
On retirement, Gloria moved with Ron to Flower Mound, and later to Pflugerville, Texas, where the family still resides. Gloria was a longtime member of St. Mark's Methodist Church in Augusta, Georgia, and active in the First United Methodist Church in Round Rock.
The greatest joys of her life were her grandchildren, whom she adored, and connecting with friends and classmates from Orlando and Japan. Gloria leaves a legacy of love, laughter, friendship and grace. We thank God for sharing this beautiful soul with us.
Gloria was preceded in death by her mother, Gayle Gandy Goode.
She is survived by her father, Bernice L. Goode of Longview, Texas; husband, Ron Phillips of Pflugerville, Texas; sons, Ronald Scott Phillips of Arlington, Tenn., and Steven Gary Phillips of Pflugerville, Texas; sisters, Glenna Goode and Gina Goode of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren, Connor Phillips and Kendall Phillips of Arlington, Tenn., and Victoria Phillips of Pflugerville, Texas; and nieces and nephews, Lauren Ashley Phillips of Los Angeles, Calif., Taylor Phillips of Midland, Texas, Evan Bogner and Marcy Bogner of Frisco, Texas.

There are no words adequate enough to express how very sorry we are, how much she will be missed, or how very special she was... remember, we are always here if you need anything!!! Love always!

Mrs. Phillips was a beautiful woman, with a terrific laugh and endearing personality. I will always remember how she made me feel so welcome when I came to visit, and how the house seemed full of love and smiles.
