Gloria Jean Davis Wellman, age 71, of Hamden, left this life on Monday morning, June 25, 2012, at her home, to be with loved ones in Heaven. The oldest of four daughters, she was born on January 3, 1941 in Floyd County, Kentucky, to the late Marcus and Jewell Morgan Davis. Gloria was a 1959 graduate of Hamden High School. She was a former employee of Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Logan, Ohio before becoming a homemaker and starting Wellman Trucking Company with her husband. Gloria is survived by 5 children, William W. Wellman, and wife, Cara Dawn, of Hamden, Oh., Dianna Grubb, and husband, Glen, of Catlettsburg, Ky., John Wellman of South Point, Oh., Christina Tackett, and husband, Marty, of McDowell, Ky. and Mary Ann Lowe, and husband, Terry, of Ironton, Oh.; 13 grandchildren, Timothy Wellman, Chelsea Burke, Matthew Tackett, Makay Tackett, Sassandra Grubb, Braden Wellman, Bailey Wellman, Sophia Lowe, Lena Justice, Tanya Wheeler, Kassy Leadingham, Eric Grubb and Kevin Grubb; 5 great-grandchildren, Eli Wheeler, Makenna Burke, Emmalyn Burke, Gracie Justice and Aubree Leadingham, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, William M. Wellman in 2010 and her sisters, Carolyn Lee Davis, Sally Jarvis and Virginia Perry. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 P.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 A.M. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor David McKnight officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Gloria's name to the Hamden Fire Department, P.O. Box 309, Hamden, Ohio 45634.
